Now the first question you'll have for us is"When do you start your fishing season?"

I start the season the middle of May, on the Kasilof River, this first run of kings salmon weigh 10 to 35 pounds.

At this time of the season the kings are just coming into the river remember, so the fishing could be good or slow at this time of the year.Any salmon fishing changes from year to year, as we all know!

The second run of Kasilof kings start the last of June, and weigh 10 to 55 pounds. All runs of salmon last for three to four weeks, with a two week lull between runs.

The first run of Sockeye salmon have started to show up also. Sockeye salmon, Red salmon as they're called, run for three to four weeks and weigh 6 to 9 pounds.

Now after a two week lull the second run of Red salmon start coming in and weigh 7 to 14 pounds. All second run salmon weigh more than the first run fish because they're one to two years older. The Red salmon are some of the best fighting fish you'll ever have on any rod!

After a two week lull the second run of Silvers start coming in the river and they run most of the winter. They weigh 8 to 18 pounds.
