I’m confused.  The Blog is causing grief for the folks at City Hall?
Why? Because people are starting to pay attention to what’s going on up
there?  Because people are starting to voice their opinions?  Could it
possibly be that someone has gotten too close to an issue that they would
just as soon keep swept under the carpet?  Think about it, if everything
the City does is out in the open, if they are doing everything above
board, then what is the problem?  What is it that has suddenly caused them
grief?  What issue has raised the ire of the City enough to contact the
Blog Webmaster and complain about it?  Sounds like somebody has hit a
nerve.  Stand strong Veda, it’s just starting to get good.

Freedom of the press and freedom of speech is what makes a democracy.  It seems to me that a couple of our elected officials and some of our public servants in this community have forgotten who they work for!  They may run their employees under a dictatorship government, but they're not going to do it to us, the American voters. If they're upset, perhaps they have a reason to be.  Please, keep it just the way it is.  11/02/06

Please keep the blogg. If the blogg is causing grief at City Hall or any where else, then those people also have the right to voice their objections or opinions in response.

Maybe it's such a surprise for them to know how the general public in this town really feels about certain issues, that they don't know how to react!  Oh-well!!

In any event, please don't let the blogg be shut down because of intimidation. Freedom of speech is what makes this country so great!

Veda:  Keep the blog page.  We have a constitution for a reason and I believe it reads "Freedom Of Press", Freedom Of Speech".  Maybe City Hall is getting grief over the blogs cause what people are writing is the truth and they are afraid to answer up to it.  I used to live there and still read it as it is very amusing at times and it keeps me in the loop with what is happening in my former home town.  Don't let City Hall bully you.  Your site is great and is very useful.  11/02/06

Free speech!  If I have heard it once, I have heard it a million times…free speech is what America stands for.  Keep the blog.

The Unalaska chapter of the “Corrupt Bastards Club ” at city hall are trying to censor free speech. They do not want voters to voice their opinions about their under handed and illegal tactics that they are employing in orchestrating a write-in election. It is alright for Frank Kelty to excercise his right of free speech on this site but god help you if you don't happen to agree with him. This blog site is essential and yes it is a courageous move on your part but as the blog master, either you believe in free speech and democracy or you don’t. I am ready to call in the FBI and the Division of Elections to investigate the violations of federal election laws being perpetrated by the city officials including trying to intimidate free speech and using tax dollars to promote their write-in candidate. From a purely business standpoint, your blog site is attracting a ton of free attention which is good for your advertisers and your bottom line. Put the site up now and don't be intimidated by the CBC of Unalaska.

If for no other reason than principle of freedom of speech and enterprise the blogs should live on.  I am sorry that City Hall feels like this is impeding what they are able to accomplish…however, I doubt seriously that major business decision are made based on various opinions on your site.  I thoroughly enjoy all of the Unalaska Advertiser and the blogs have made it perfectly clear that community members are not as uninvolved as some may percieve.  Of course, if this is taking a personal toll on you or your business other factors may need to be taken into consideration. Just my opinion.

Other than Jim Paulin, the blog has been one of the best things that has hit the Island. The blog has power. My vote is to continue blog and keep the same rules.  Besides most people don't read the blog, right? 11/2/06

Veda a "Free Press" is the grease of Democracy.  Please don't back down to pressure that would attempt to restrict freedom of speech.  Or else this town would really be in big trouble.  Freedom of speech is required for a democracy to survive.  You have done this town a great service.  Please hang in there!!!  11/2/06

I think that the blog site is a wonderful thing. It allows people to vent their frustrations with all things happening within our town not just with City officials!! Long live the blog site!
