   Upper Kenai River

Rainbow Trout & Dolly Varden

The Upper River opens June 11th when we can start fishing our favorites:   The Kenai Rainbow Trout that can weigh up to 20 pounds and Dolly Varden that can weigh up to 15 pounds.

These fish last all summer long and the best time to catch that  really big one is in the fall, (September)!

Sockeye Salmon

Usually near the time the river opens the Red Salmon, as they are called, start to show up and weigh from 7 to 9 pounds, and are very good eating fish. The second run show up near the end of July and weigh 8 to 14 pounds.

  Coho Salmon

The Silver Salmon, as they're called, come in around mid- August and weigh 8 to 14 pounds, the second run come in around the last of September and weigh 10 to 18 pounds.

All runs of salmon last about 3 to 4 weeks with a 2 to 3 week lull between runs. Second run fish are usually bigger because they're one to two years older when they come back to their spawning grounds.

These runs are native wild salmon and are fresh and bright and give you the fight of your life on any rod!

Come see and fish our part of Alaska!!
