Traffic Crime - A vehicle without a trailer was parked in the vehicles-with-trailers only parking area at the Alyeska boat launch.  An officer issued a citation.

Domestic Disturbance – A woman reported her brother had pushed her, resulting in an injury to her arm, after they argued about a homeless man’s continued presence on their property.  Michael Lekanoff was arrested on one count Assault IV-DV.

Traffic Crime – Caller reported a vehicle that was parked illegally in front of the main doors to the high school.  The responding officer noted that the vehicle, in addition to being improperly parked, had expired registered and the driver had neither insurance nor a driver’s license in possession.  The driver was issued a citation and warned about the numerous violations.

Suspicious Person/Activity – Officer observed a vehicle in the ditch at the entrance to the Eagle store, and suspected a drunken driver.  The driver of the vehicle was later located and he reported he had simply erred when making the turn.  He was not intoxicated.

Drug Law Violation – Officer observed two men coming from an area often used for smoking marijuana.  A small quantity of marijuana was found on one of the men during a subsequent search.

Suspicious Person/Activity – An intoxicated man expressed great concern about green food coloring on the floor of his arctic entry, and added that a friend whose name he doesn’t know was in his residence earlier.  After intensive investigation of the crime scene, an officer deduced that the green food coloring was in fact liquid that had oozed out of one of several trash bags.  The officer advised the drunken man to get some sleep.

Suspicious Person/Activity – A woman reported a possibly intoxicated driver.  An officer located the suspect vehicle and driver, and determined the man was not drunk.

Traffic Crime – Bus driver reported some vehicles had parked in such a way as to inhibit egress from the high school parking lot.  An officer determined the vehicles belong to staff members, and informed school administration of the problem.

Drug Law Violation – UDPS received information regarding the importation of heroin into the community.  A search warrant for a residence and several vehicles was issued.  The investigation resulted in Dustin Williams, 29 of Unalaska, being arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree.  Approximately one ounce of heroin was seized.

Suspicious Person/Activity – Fisherman reported finding an obviously abandoned campsite, with various camping and personal equipment still present, and was concerned about the well-being of the campers.  An officer determined the site had been abandoned weeks earlier by some hikers who were subsequently rescued and brought back to town.
